Apparently the time has come to Nominate Your My.Opera Favorites.
By Friday November 21st (my Dad’s birthday!) nomination will close and finalists in each category will be publicly announced. Same as last year, we will rely on community vote, and voting will begin Monday November 24th and last for two weeks. We will provide everyone with cool banners and graphics they can put on their blog/site to increase their winning chances.
Last year they printed diplomas for the winners, but this year they’ve gone a bit farther and have something more cool: Moods of Norway Opera t-shirts!

They are exclusive t-shirts you can’t buy in any store.Category: Community

So there we have it. Now we just need to think our nominations out pretty well prior to voting. Of course, I’m not going to lie and say that I’d not be THRILLED to win one or more of the categories, but I will be genuinely happy for whomever does win.Now I’ve got some real contemplating to do - as I’m sure the rest of you do as well.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!
On one level or another, I truly believe that each and every one of us is worthy of one or more of these awards. There are just so many good people here on My.Opera.
Good luck, everyone! Love you guys!

Just a quick note to apologize to you, my loyal readers. I am very aware that my site is lagging worse than a granny making her way across a sheet of ice with a broken hip and one blind eye.
I hate this fact, and am doing everything in my power to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do at this point.
What happened is that my site was moved to a brand spankin’ new server, and somewhere along the way something with my site went awry. Lucky me! No other site on the server is being all sluggish and slow like mine is, so we are now in the process of trying to determine what the source of said sluggishness is. In other words, we’re up to our eyebrows in technological BS!
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate those of you who are sticking it out with me through this time. I know how frustrating it is to leave comments and whatnot…I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to do it. If I could give all of you a big bear hug, I most certainly would!
I will shut up now…I just wanted to explain what’s up. I can’t imagine it’ll take much longer to figure this issue out. So please…PLEASE continue to hang in there!
Just in case any of you fine folks would like to help plug my site, here’s what some of the buttons look like and the code that goes to them.
(I plan on making some less girlie looking ones
with different colors/styles soon.)
Thank you to anyone who humors this!

I will be participating in Blog Action Day this year. I thought I’d post something about it now so that people who’ve not heard of it yet will have time to really think things out and decide how they are going to participate. I think it would be awesome if we all pulled together on October 15th and do our best to make a difference. This year’s topic is Poverty.
“Blog Action Day is an annual nonprofit event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers, podcasters, and videocasters, to post about the same issue on the same day. Our aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion.”

“First and last, the purpose of Blog Action Day is to create a discussion. We ask bloggers to take a single day out of their schedule and focus it on an important issue.
By doing so on the same day, the blogging community effectively changes the conversation on the web and focuses audiences around the globe on that issue.
Out of this discussion naturally flow actions, advice, ideas, plans, and empowerment. In 2007 on the theme of the Environment, we saw bloggers running environmental experiments, detailing innovative ideas on creating sustainable practices and focusing audience’s attentions on organizations and companies promoting green agendas. In 2008 we aim to again focus the blogging community’s energies and passions, this time on the mammoth issue of global poverty.”
